IBM T400 VS. Apple Macbook 5.1 Geekbench Results

5 12 2008

I had the chance to work with a new aluminum Macbook and also a new IBM T400 laptops. I like the Mac, question the Firewire omission, but am pleased with the over all build. The T400 is has the option for UMTS 3G WWAN access, fingerprint security, and Firewire, it is a ThinkPad and the style has not change much in 20 years. I ran the Geekbench app as I was using the machines and submitted them to my GB profile. That is a cool function of GB, anywhere I am depending on the computer I am using Geekbench and do a quick benchmark and save it to my online profile. Anyways, here are the Geekbench results from both laptops, plus for reference the Monolith Open Computer results. Enjoy.

Seperating Kernals

4 12 2008

Open Computing, unleashed raw computing power redefining boundaries that separate kernels,. My main BOCDoperating environment is OSX and then Vista Ultimate 64. I have moved on from the 32 Bit OS because hardware is changing, especially the cost, like memory for example. OSX automatically switches over to 64 Bit when it has more than 4GB of memory, Windows needs a different OS installed if moving over from XP. Vista 64 sounds terrible I’m sure but it support 128GB of memory, OSX as well, and it support DX10, which depending on your standpoint does deliver better graphic than day of DX9 and XP.  Windows still has it purposes as does OSX, the latter being better for me for daily use and the former being more like XBox 1440 multimedia machine. Linux lives virtualized within OSX, a couple different flavors to bash around with. XP is still the tried and true OS, for work offBCODice environments with numerous clients it is a wonderful OS and will continue to thrive is this area. OSX is optimized for designers, editors, and musicians, yet cost considerably more than a comparable Windows machine. Open Computers fills the void between PC’s and Apples, providing individual Custom Open Computer designs for all budgets, for OSX, Windows, or Linux. Every machine built uses the best components, like gold memory heat sinks and Lian Li cases, quiet operating ambiance, like Scythe chassis fans with chassis sound dampening, and power, like Quad 4 Core paired with DDR3 and PCI-E geForce graphics, delivering an outstanding experience for any operating system.
